YESTERDAY I GOT MY NEWSLETTER FROM SCRAPBOOK GRAPHICS AND DECIDED TO GO TAKE A LOOK. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE DESIGNER NATALI'S KITS! I GOT 3 OF HERS THAT WERE ON SALE AND MADE THE BOOK I NEEDED TO DO FOR A MOTHER OF ONE OF MY KIDS. IT'S FOR A BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR HER MOM, HERE ARE TWO OF THE PAGES, IT REALLY TURNED OUT PRETTY AND I AM GOING TO USE THESE KITS FOR THE CHURCH BOOK, TOO!
ZAROGA, I DID TAKE A PICTURE OF A LITTLE SOMETHING I MADE FOR MY NIECE WHEN SHE HAD HER BABY 3 YEARS AGO, I USED UP SCRAPS FOR THE BLANKET. I LOVE THE WORK BASKET BOOKS! MY SISTER TWILA HAS SEVERAL, THEY REMIND ME OF MY AUNT DOLL WHO GOT THEM ALL THE TIME! YEARS AGO I FOUND A PATTERN IN ONE FOR A KLEENEX COVER THAT LOOKED LIKE A POOL TABLE AND MADE IT FOR MY BROTHER, I WILL HAVE TO ASK HIM IF HE STILL HAS THAT, I DOUBT IT THOUGH, IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO. THAT WAS A FUN THING TO MAKE AND SO EASY!
I UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE HEART RAISING. WHEN A NURSE TAKES MY PULSE SHE ALWAYS DOES A DOUBLE TAKE BECAUSE IT'S SO HIGH. IT USED TO RUN AROUND 112 OR SO BUT SINCE I HAVE CUT BACK ON PEPSIS IT IS UNDER 100. I CUT DOWN AT A GOOD TIME, THE PRICE HAS JUMPED, THE PLACE I COULD ALWAYS GET THEM FOR 2.75 IS NOW 3.50, I AM NOW AT 1 CAN A DAY AND I BOTTLE OF CAFFEINE FREE.
WELL I NEED TO GET READY FOR CHURCH, I MUST GET THERE EARLY TO START THE FAMILY PICTURES!

A Word Art Freebie for you!

Today I am sharing a little word art of my verse for the week
I hope you like it and you will also join me in learning a verse a week!
There are so many people out there with broken hearts and troubles, I don't know how they get along with out Faith!
We have a family in the town I just moved from that needs prayers. The father and his 4 year old were riding a go cart Christmas when another child, a 16 year old ran into them on her 4 wheeler. They were all taken to a NC burn unit because the one in Augusta is understaffed and couldn't handle it. The 4 year old is Very Severe and in a drug induced coma, here is the link to our paper it is an online news paper and keeps updating the story.
They are having several fund raisers so pray with me that this child and his family will be blessed and get the help they need. I feel for the young girl Trish. I am sure she has so much guilt!
My best friend Leighanne is having problems, too, her blood palettes keep dropping. She had to take some chemo treatment this week and is feeling so tired! I ask you will agree in prayer the Drs will find the cause and help her. She had a stomach virus and they believe this triggered it. They may have to remove her spleen.
Zaroga, I am also praying for you! I hope you and your family can get straight and have a blessed year!
I am blessed that although my cough is aggravating (I once broke a rib coughing) and it is hard to breathe when it gets cold I don't have any real pains. My hands look like it from the arthritis but as long as I can crochet and make pages I will do fine. I really want a laptop but am concerned if I can use one easily on not.
Well that's enough for today, I hope I have several comments to moderate later, I need to go offline and work on a calendar and the churchbook. I will start taking family pictures at church tomorrow for a directory.
God Bless us EVERYONE!

I thought since I was up already I would go ahead and post! I thought I would put a picture from our beach trip today, I was taking pictures of the birds and this one was hurt and he followed my up the beach and got pretty close. We were there in October.
Charli is getting over her stomach thing, Gina said maybe it was more than just teething because Trey was sick and even came home from work yesterday, he Had to be sick because that young man works, he even has a second job a couple of days a week, not because they need the money but, I think, to spend the time with his dad.
Big news in our neighborhood, a couple got arrested and charged with child and animal neglect, they called the law because a gun was stolen and the police saw they were living in filth too nasty to even think about! The girl is 26 and used to work with Les, she is married to a 41 yer old man and they have a 3 year old. Her mother was also bedridden in the house and had not been cleaned up and had dead roaches stuck to her. The women and child were taken by social services. The girl's brother lived there, too, and was charged with the mother's neglect. BTW they drive a Hummer! You never know what goes on with people do you?
Oh, Les's Dad is at the hospital doing a sleep study, Les took him and George wanted to be there about 7:45 or so, the appointment was at 9:00! I hope they can help him.

Thursday, January 8, 2009

I got a short note from Jeremy this morning, he JUST got his Christmas packages! I mailed one the 4th of December and one a few days later! That makes me sad he had Christmas with nothing from us! The picture frame I sent him broke, I hope it didn't mess anything up.. I wrapped it in bubble wrap and the sleep pants I sent him.
Mama's cancer wasn't invasive so they didn't have to take her lymph nodes so she will have a faster recover time. I am glad of that!
Well I posted every morning for a week! Not that I have that much to say but I am proud of myself!

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

My prayers are with my Mom today as she has her surgery! I am going to take my brother to the hospital to meet her at 7:00 then go to work. I am blessed my boss is letting me leave my cell on to receive a text from Sissy when she is out. I am sure she will be OK I will go after I watch Charli this afternoon. She is having a hard time with her top teeth, they are showing just not quite through the skin yet and she is not eating much and very clingy. Her tummy is messed up, too. She didn't even eat a whole yogurt for me yesterday and she usually eats them even if she's not hungry!
Well it's time to go, I picked my new bible verse, Romans 10:17 Faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the word of God.

I am actually enjoying posting in the mornings! I need to get up a few minutes earlier but I move a little slow, LOL! It seems to take so long fixing my meds, I tried putting them in a pill holder but several of them split from the humidity of Les's frequent showers! I need to take them in the bathroom as this is such a habit I know if I move them I won't always remember, after all it will soon be 20 years I have been taking Prednisone!
Well about the picture, it is my nephew Cody playing around in the castle we visited at the beach, I was going to use it for a challenge at SOTB but haven't posted yet. They were slow getting all the challenges up this month and I have been to busy to recheck. I love Dr. Seuss and I wanted to do this as WA. I like the way it turned out. I made the gray BG.
They moved Mama's surgery up to tomorrow, I am sad in a way because I keep Charli on Wednesdays, I am going to keep her though and go to the hospital as soon as Trey gets home unless something happens that I am needed. Then Gina will take her to Trey's Mama, I am very anxious to spend time with her right now because she will take a couple of steps and I am afraid of missing her take off walking. She had a runny nose and was whiney from her top teeth last night so I went over and kept her while the kids got groceries. She was so sweet and clingy! Of all the people in the world sometimes it seems she loves me best, I know I love her best!
Well I have to go! I hope I don't have too many mistakes this morning because I don't have time to check!

I thought I could take a breather with making all those books when I realized I had to do the Church Book! Homecoming is Feb. 1 and I do the book every year! We are getting together a Members Book too and next Sunday I will start taking family pictures of the members I hope I can get most of them so no one will be left out!
Bud said something last Wednesday that has been on my mind and I did my Children's Church on it yesterday. Someone told him they were an Average Christian and he said how that bothered him. He's so right! I read Hermie the Common Caterpillar by Max Lucado and told them how they shouldn't settle for "C"s in school and for being average as a Christian!
This year I will be above average as a follower and hope others will do the same. It's easy for me to go to church every Sunday and on Wednesday nights but I will spend more time this year learning the Bible and hope that too will be a part of who I am... an Above Average Christian.

Today I dedicate this post to my Nanny, Evelyn Snowbird Maynard Cheek. She was born Jan. 4, 1917 and died when Gina was a young child. I really miss her, probably more than anyone I ever lost. She was a real Country Girl even though her parents moved here from England in 1902. Things I remember are her cornbread, her Chocolate cake with fudgey icing. How she let me use her scraps to make crafts, the quilts she made and her quilt rack hanging from the ceiling.
Her Laugh and how funny she was! Snuff (yuck!) And how she would take me to the Trash Dump where the mill tossed the things they threw away, she was a recycler! She had sheds with cloth she horded to make quilts. She had a cluttered house but I was comfortable there and spent so many nights with her and Papa.
But one of the biggest things I remember is this that country woman read her Bible, watched Oral Roberts and gave me my first Corrie Ten Boom book.
She also gave me one of my special treasures, a rhinestone set that my Daddy gave her when he was 15. I treasure it and hope that my precious Charli will one day. I got it when I was 15 and hope that I will be around to give it to her on her 15th birthday.
I am getting ready for church and need to help Les because we invited friends over for lunch.

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Kept Charli today while Gina worked and we had a really fun day! She called me Meme 3 times, this is a picture from Christmas morning, the kit is Cathy K's new one called Laugh and it is a Super kit! I have used it om several pages.
Julie sent me a video from her phone of Seth walking, it don't last but a few seconds and I can't even see what he looks like But it is the first thing I have had in months!
I was telling Les tonight that I didn't post many or even do much at my sites but I made about 250 pages in December. I did 6 Brag book calendars for kids at work, one for my MIL, one for Gina and 2 wedding books, all these were 4 x 6 but I did a couple of square pages, too, in 2008 I made well over 1000 total pages! I am trying to get the challenges started at 3S, I hope I have a good response.
Oh, Les and I used my GC from Ryan and ate at Crackerbarrel, I really enjoyed that. My back is itching from where Dr. Henderson froze those places on my back, I had 3 there, one on my face and one on my elbow I had removed Wednesday, that really hurt while he froze them but other than itching they are ok. I am glad to have them off!

Luke 24:45

I actually didn't take a single picture yesterday! We has the New Year's meal of Ham, blackeyed peas, collards and stewed tomatoes at the Gary's and Charli started taking 3 or 4 steps, I was too excited she would quit if I got me camera so I just watched her. I will keep her in the morning so maybe we can play and I can get her to do it more, January 1 is a perfect day to start walking, I think!

Well on with my resolution... here is my first scripture to learn found in Luke 24:45. Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures
I had another picked out but was lead to this one. I was talking to my Grandmother and we don't understand why our family members don't go to church! I so Love church and get so much from learning and teaching, I teach 12 and 13 year olds and have really learned so much this past year about Bible History.
I can't see putting earthly things before church and showing up just when you feel good! Teaching helps because I have to be there Plus since Gina sits with me I get to hold my baby and she is a good girl in church! Today I am praying that my family members will open their minds to the scriptures, I can't imagine being a parent now and Not raising them to look to Christ for guiance and not the sins of this world.... I am stepping down from my soapbox now to go to work.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Last night we ended up going to Gina's and keeping Charli because Leighann went home from the hospital and needed to rest. Gina had let her stay up and she was in a mood to play, we watched Horton Hears a Who and it was amazing animation! Charli would nap then play, Trey and Gina got home about 11:30 so Les and I just went on to bed, we did hear a lot of firecrackers for several minutes and there were bottle rockets in our yard today but we could really see the fireworks. It was a nice night.
I used Rina's On Night Divine kit to make my baby an angel, the BG is from her Christmas Traditions kit and the flower is a freebie from Osten Wilkins, he has a Gorgeous winter DAD so you should join there! http://ostenwilkinsdesigns.com I like also that you reach levels of posts and you get more freebies! Oh, the lace beads, and other elements are from Pam Laflors and Irene Alexeeva, I love their blogs!
Well I finished my eggnog, baked a pie to take to my inlaws and will be getting ready to take my tree down when I get home from their house. I hope everyone is OK and has a great start to the year.
BTW I did make a resolution... to learn at least a scripture a week and to do more RAKs, Shannon , a friend of mine lost her babyTues. She had found out she was pregnant Christmas Eve, maybe I will start with her, I will think about what I can do!

Les and I were going to spend New Year's Eve with Leighanne at the Hospital because she was put there Sunday but she got to go home today and wanted to rest, I am so glad her counts are better!
So we are going to church at 7:00 and going to sit with our baby while Gina and Trey go to a party, I can't think of anything better to do! Gotta' Run!

Christmas Day

These are pictures from last night, my Mom wouldn't get in our 5 generation picture so this is 4, the picture at top shows Charli with her Moose, Chris, Les and I made at Build a Bear, she liked it ok but it wasn't her favorite thing, Gina said she didn't want too many stuffed animals though, she said she didn't want the dust and clutter. She Hates clutter!
This morning Les and I got up to go see Charli's Santa Claus, we got there at 8:00 but she wasn't awake yet so we ate at the Huddle House, that was fun, I left our waitress a small tin with a few candy kisses and a Salvation Bracelet. I am thinking about doing my New year's Resolution about making at least 3 meaningful RAK's a week, I will not make something I can't keep!
Back to Charli's Santa... she loved her Yogabagaba guitar! Gina had found several toys at Target. I will upload pictures later. I am going to keep her tomorrow afternoon while the kids go to see Bedtime Stories.
Our friends just left, Shannon found out she's pregnant and we all went to see Gloria, her son Steve died Tuesday, she is our pianist at church. We had Fun, we watched a movie Mr. Mangoreum's Emporium or something like that and had an ornament swap. I made a wire and beaded ornament and les painted a great wood one. That was FUN!
I really didn't miss Christmas at his parent's so badly. We will go there Sunday.

We had Family Christmas for my side Sunday and here are a couple of pictures, I am off to Build a Bear to get her a special gift...

Friday, December 19, 2008

I have been so busy! The Christmas play was Wed. night and it was great! I had tears from laughing at the kids! Gina had to work late Tues and Wed. doing hair for Christmas so I was there and had to go back to Dr. about my ear and get More drops and have to go back Monday. I am up now because my hand is swollen, mostly my finger with my wedding rings so I had to soak it and take Advil.
ANYWAY this is Charli 'sneezing' LOL! She had been laughing when PopPop would act like he sneezed and now she is doing it and shaking her head No when we say no, Charli! It's amazing how we appreciate the little things with our GRAND kids!
Mama's cousin Dot passed away Tuesday. She had a lump removed instead of taking the whole breast and they didn't get it all and it spread rapidly. I am so sorry for Debbie and Cindy having this Christmas without her! Because I had my work party I didn't get to go to the funeral home and I will be at work during the service.
I still have to make the kid's books for work so I guess I will be working on that today! I hope I get a nap before time to get ready for work!

Saturday, December 13, 2008

Just a quick post but I didn't want to disappoint anyone and not include a picture of my Charli!
My FIL, George want taken to the hospital and is in ICU with pneumonia and not getting enough oxygen, his lungs are getting much worse, I just hope he doesn't die while Jeremy is in Iraq, they were so close.
I kept Charli tonight while Gina and Trey went to her party for work. That was the easiest child to get to sleep and in her bed!
I also went to a birthday party for Caleb who is one of my kids at work, Out of 6 children 2, Caleb and Livi have birthdays today. Their Mom's were in rooms beside each other when they were born!
Well gotta take a pecan pie out of the oven, we have a dinner at church tomorrow! Suzan woke us up at 4:30 (actually I was up then) to go to the hospital. I am now Very tired and having leg pain since my I.V. Thursday SO off to bed!

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Been very busy, kept Charli late last couple of days, Gina has a lot of clients needing their hair done, I will be keeping her Saturday, too, I have parties Friday and Sunday and next Thursday and still need to do books for Tim and for Jessica from the weddings.
I had my Reclast IV today, it's not the quick 15 minute thing like on TV! I was at the hospital for 3 hours! Then I went to see Mom, she found out she has breast cancer, she is in good spirits. Will tell more as things come.

Been Very Busy! Had a wedding to photograph Friday and our best friends' wedding Saturday! This is Les and I with Tim and Leighanne. Afterwards we took Charli to see the light at Connie Maxwell Children's Home, she cooed and ahhed and danced! We rode the horse-drawn wagons and she Loved it! She was the Best, I was so proud and our friends all bragged on her! We had a group of 12 including the newlyweds, Kevin and Shannon and girls plus Cassidy and Helena from Les' work and her boys. It was a Fun night! Will post a picture later.

Got results back today

This is Charli with my DGM I just thought I would share... we are blessed to have 5 generations in our family.
I talked to my Dr. today, in order to go on Cytoxan http://www.medicinenet.com/cyclophosphamide/article.htm I have to go back up to 30 mgs of Predisone, I have been on Predisone for 19 years and was just told it was very hard on my body so I don't think that's a smart thing to triple it! I talked to my husband and daughter and Gina has same feelings I do, if I do this the side effects are too rough, weight gain, moodiness, hair loss And I have to have blood work and see the Dr each month and take antibiotics 3 times a week to prevent infections, to me it's not a real option. The Quality of life is so much more than Quantity, I am 48 and have a grand daughter I adore, I don't want to be too sick to take care of her or have her remember me as a fat witch! My Husband thinks I am being selfish, I don't think wanting Charli to have a happy Meme is selfish...

Jeremy I am Proud of you!

I was doing my usual two challenges at once when I came up with this page, when J was young we were Very close, I was even assistant scout master of his scout troop and got to pin his Eagle on him! Now he is grown and has a son of his own, I feel so bad that I can't bond with Seth and spoil him like I do Charli, 3000 miles is too far away. Now Jeremy is in Iraq and he is not able to see his son as he has his first teeth and gets ready to walk...
I have to remember what a wonderful little boy he was and I scrap his pictures growing up because I have too few of my grandson.
Well, enough of that! Jeremy I am so proud of you and we are all praying for you to return safely and with good memories! I Love you Son and miss your hugs!
The llayout is make with my stash by Osten Wilkins AKA The Dude and a Blog freebie overlay by Elena Designs which I LOVE and the green ribbon on left bottom is by Colie's Corner from Apple Orchard at SOTB

Black Friday

BoldIt was a Very different day for me, I didn't go shopping with either of my sisters or Gina! Les and I went to Goodies and Wal-Mart, ate breakfast and he went to work. I was going to keep Charli but I didn't get but a couple of hours sleep so Gina and Trey took her with them to Anderson.
I got her this cute shirt tht says Who needs Santa when I've got Grandma? So I used Merry Falala by Cathy K to scrap these pictures. Just after I took the bottom picture she reached and got the donuts from the top of my pocketbook so I gave her one and took pictures. I also got her standing playing with my phone, she loves to dance to the music.
Cathy's Kit is $1 these weekend at SBE and believe me that's a bargain because the kit is adorable.
BTW, how do you like my new header? It's made with Kimmi's $1 kit called Snow Friends at SBE, I did use the frames and heart from Lover Boy to frame my great kids and grands. I had to do a double take for a second because I have had the other up since I started, but I like seeing my children at the top!

Thursday, November 27, 2008

Well I am going to do a little baking today! Anyone that knows me know this is a rare event, LOL! Grandmama Gary always baked a lemon Nut cake and I loved it so much but never got the recipe. COLD TODAY!

Kimmi has a new kit for SBE called Christmas Angels, there are 3 colors, this page of Jeremy is done with the blue one, I so love this picture! He had just turned 2 and was so happy and funny!
Jamie and I tried doing our crafts at the Jockey Lot today, it was so cold! 22 degrees when I got there, I only sold 4 angels for the missions project and she didn't even make the $9 we had to pay for the space! Last week she at least made $12! I guess no one is buying much!

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

A quick note to say Happy Birthday to my best friend Leigh Ann!
Yesterday was my SIL's birthday and my nephew is now in the army! I think he will be in Texas.
It is really getting Cold here now, beginning to feel like Christmas!

Free Word Art

I made this page for a challenge at SOTB using the photo Sarah Kendall provided, The kit is from the Give Thanks Blog Train I found at Assie Scraps Blog and a free overlay from E-lena Designs Blog, Raffia Heart from Kim B and paper dolls from Gina Huff at W&W. If you want the word art I made you are welcome to it... http://www.4shared.com/file/70309598/797147d8/Word_Art_Wagon.html
The picture is from the early 70's of my sisiter Twila and brother Jeff and I at Easter. I couldn't find a good picture with a wagon or a good quote so this is what I came up with.
Thanks to all the artists that post Blog Freebies! I hope YOU always remember to leave a simple Thank You, they sure deserve it for all the time they use to make them for us!
OH, and this is my 100th post!
